BEST RE was established in April 1985 as an Off-shore reinsurance company with headquarters based in Tunis (Tunisia), where it operates under Law 85 No 85-108 dated 6th Dec. 1985. Under this law, BEST RE enjoys the benefit of a tax-free environment and is regulated by the Tunisian Insurance Code, which is largely similar to the French insurance legislation. BEST RE operates in compliance with Islamic principles (Art. 3 of its bylaws) and as such is considered as the world’s Retakaful pioneer.
